When Science Fails
“Why is my red signs fading” it’s true red does fade much faster than
anything else no matter the material, but not to worry, there is a work around and
it’s quite effective.
The science behind it is rather interesting but I will not
bore you with the details, I’ll let an expert do that! "The red dyes are
more susceptible to fading because they look red and thus absorb blue, and blue
is the higher-energy light," notes David Erhardt of the Smithsonian Center
for Materials Research and Education.
Well there you have it, all your burning questions have been
answered; I have seen a lot of faded red
signs that are faded and I’m sure you have too.
The work around is an easy fix for your ‘sign guy’ should be
able to help you when you’re the sign is built, the process can be different
depending on the materials used and simply put it’s a UV coating to protect the
colour pigment.
If you have a red sign please make sure you get it UV coated
and remember ”A business with no sign is a sign of no business”

First paint in months
I have to admit I have not been able to paint for months, even with doctors orders to stay home most of December the pain has shot my energy and the pills have shot my mind. I have not been able to paint a damn thing.
This is how I feel.
This is how I feel.
I'm happy to have painted but the lettering screams do over!

Ed Hamburger
Tonight's letter job was on an old original stock class drag car, I was asked to add the 'Hamburger' back on two sides of this Duster! It was very cool working on this old car!
The owner has taken so much time and dedication to get it back to its original state, finding and talking with past owners and even getting original parts to put back on to this old girl.
Life is good!

Way Cool Tattoos Uptown
Way Cool Uptown has a new local,
4710 Yonge St. And I've been asked to paint a couple things for them.
Did the front door on a warm but windy Sunday.

Some New Weapons
I've been doing a lot of fill in with my good lettering brushes and had to replace one (expensive)... So I bought a set of mixed hair brushes 169's, Mack has made these a cost effective alternative to the all natural brushes and there not bad just did a hour of fill ins... More spring then the 189's great for the carved letters I've been painting.
